All Hard Candy Products 50% Off!
Yes, you read me right! I went to the Hard Candy website today to check out a few eyeliner colors and was tickled pink to see that every single product on their site is half off.
I was disappointed to find out however that retail stores will no longer carry the line, so it’s exclusively available at www.hardcandy.com now. Which kinda sucks, but at least they didn’t discontinue the whole line. Cuz you know I woulda shed some tears over that.
While you’re there, be sure to check out a few of my faves: the Candy Coating lip gloss tastes yummy and leaves lips looking luscious and sparkly. And their Eye Candy eye shadows are to die for – Cotton Candy (baby pink) and Gumdrop (periwinkle) are two of my staples so be sure to pick those up.
Oh and the lip sorbet lip gloss is pretty fabulous as well. As are the glitter eye pencils. Dude, I just love this whole line! So despite my lack of money, I still picked up a few items, which I’ll show off as soon as I get them in the mail.
That being said, it’s bedtime for this princess, so sweet dreams everyone!
Review: Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
I’m gonna keep it real here folks – I hate high coverage foundation and only bought this because the consultant who recommended it was super hot. So imagine my surprise when I ended up actually liking the stuff! Wow, a cute consultant who knows his products…oy, that guy just keeps getting hotter.
So anyway, at first the name scared me a little. To me, anything designed to look good on camera is gonna be really thick and look like spackle. And what girl doesn’t wanna look like she did her make-up at the Home Depot? Answer: Me.
So I dabbed this on very lightly, then went over it with a foundation brush. I was amazed at how just a small amount made my skin look velvety and flawless. And because it offers “buildable coverage” as Sephora hottie boy calls it, a few extra dabs on my problem areas – dark circles and blemishes – and my skin was perfect.
And the color selection is outstanding. There’s seriously a shade for every skin color and undertone. Even mine was easy to match, and that’s saying something cuz the last time I bought foundation I ended up at the Lancome counter with three people standing around me trying to swatch my face. BTW – my color – as suggested by Sephora hottie boy – is 153 Golden Honey, for “medium skin with olive undertones.”
The one drawback to this product is that it’s really easy to get carried away and apply it too heavily, so start with a teeny, tiny amount and build your way up. Remember, it’s way easier to add more than it is to take it off. And while you can apply this with a sponge or your fingers, I find the foundation brush delivers the smoothest, most even application.
That being said, I still love it, and will be debuting my new camera friendly foundation in my next tutorial.
Final Verdict- WIN

Best Beauty Steals Under $10
With all this recession talk I, like most of you guys am trying to curb my spending. Which is no easy feat considering I’m a spoiled brat. But despite my many trips to Sephora during which I drop well over $100, many of my beauty staples are cheap, but more effective than anything a more expensive brand could offer. Here are a few of my faves:
Pantene Pro-V Shampoos and Conditioners- This is pretty much the only thing I’ll let come near my hair, and that’s really saying something considering I’m pretty much obsessed with my curls. The shampoos get hair clean without stripping away nutrients, while the thick, creamy conditioners drench hair in moisture without plastering it to your head. And because the line caters to every hair type, you’ll find something that works for you whether your strands are straight, curly, dry, color treated etc…
Queen Helene Cholesterol Hot Oil Treatment- Best.Hair Product.Ever. For dry hair, this stuff quite literally works miracles. It’s super easy to use- just heat and leave in for 3 minutes- and at around $2.99 for three tubes it’s a freakin’ steal! I use this once a week, and despite color treatments and daily heat styling my hair is healthy and shiny.
Tip: If your hair is really dry, you can leave the oil on for as long as 20 minutes, just make sure you wrap your hair in a hot towel as the product is heat activated. If your hair is on the oily side, only leave it in for about a minute or two, so you don’t end up lookin’ all greasy.
Aquaphor: I know using a healing ointment doesn’t sound sexy, but when it comes to treating dry skin this stuff is bomb! Winter has been an evil hooker round’ these parts which has wreaked havoc on my poor skin – especially my elbows and feet. Slathering some of this on before bed however, has helped me keep this problem in check. It’s doesn’t come in a pretty bottle, and it doesn’t smell like vanilla or anything, but you won’t find a better moisturizer.
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara- This classic makes lashes look full, it like never clumps, AND costs under $5. Seriously, what more do you need?
Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers- I’m sure most of you haven’t used this since junior high, but I say it’s time we all revisited the monumental win that is the Lip Smacker. I mean really, what’s the point in dropping $12 – 15 on a clear lip gloss at MAC or whatever, when you can get the same thing for about $4? And it smells like fruit and cupcakes. And the packaging is cute. See where I’m going with this?
And there ya have it kids! Learn it. Know it. Live it.
It’s Time For Your Old Skool Hot Track of the Week!
It’s Monday kids, which means it’s time for a little playground nostalgia. Ya know? At the playgrooouuuuund!
This week we’ll be singing along to All I Do is Think of You by Troop. If this doesn’t make you smile, then I don’t know what the hell is wrong wit yo punkass!
This jam (ha, I’m a dweeb) reminds me of driving up to 5th grade camp with my daddy – BFFs Joseph and Courtney in tow. Seriously, listening to this reminds me of redwoods, funny skits around the campfire and fist fights. Aaaaah to be 10 years old, and attending Catholic school in a high crime area again!
Hey, since we’re getting all nostalgic, why don’t you guys share some of the memories this song brings up for you? First kisses? Your first boy/girl party? Spill it peeps, I wanna hear it!!!
