Amidst all the madness of my birthday month, I totally spaced on doing my June Favorites video so just combined it with July for one video filled with favorite-y goodness. I’ve been a fan of Maybelline’s The Falsies Volum’ Express mascara since it came out last summer, so when I heard they made it even better I was giddy with delight. Well, maybe not giddy but at least reasonably excited. So I’ve been using this latest incarnation of The Falsies for a few weeks now and all in all, I’m not any more impressed than I am with the original.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good mascara, it just doesn’t offer anything better than the original version does. The length and volume are still great, which is no surprise considering it’s pretty much the same formula used in The Falsies. The only difference between the two is the brush, which is slightly more flared out than that of the original.

This is the original Falsies brush, which is flatter than most other mascara wands thus helping better distribute the mascara through the entire lash.

This is the Falsies Flared brush. It’s larger, with a more pronounced curve and a larger taper at the end which is supposed to flare out the lashes in the outer corner, thus giving the appearance of false lashes. At least that’s what it’s supposed to do, but I really didn’t notice a huge difference compared to the original wand. And my lashes, while full and voluminous look nowhere close to fake.

This is still a great buy if you’re looking for length and volume for under $7. If you’re looking for something that will give the appearance of fake lashes however, I suggest, just wearing fake lashes.

Final Verdict: Still love it, but your lashes won’t look fake.

Birthdays are awesome because after the gifts come the…giftcards! Thanks to the generosity of my friends I did some amazing shopping this week without spending a dime. This week Mariah Carey’s newest fragrance line, Lollipop Splash the Remix hit stores and of course I had to pick up all three scents from the collection right away. As a card carrying lamb I’m quick to get anything having to do with my beloved Mariah, but I’m particularly fond of her fragrances which I always seem to love. The latest line featuring everything from fun and fruity to rich oriental scents is no exception, so check out my thoughts on the line below and see which one is my favorite!

I’ve been pretty down lately, so when a few of my coworkers/friends proposed a post-work trip to the mall to cheer me up, I was more than ready with my bday gift cards in hand. If it’s one thing I love more than shopping, it’s shopping without spending any money. My first stop was Macy’s because Mariah Carey’s latest line of fragrances, Lollipop Splash hit stores this week and I had to get mine!

I didn’t have enough on my Macy’s giftcard to get all three, so I went with “Inseparable” and “Never Forget You” which smell amazing. I’ll probably pick up the third one some time next week so I can do a full review for you guys since I know you’ll be asking =)

Here’s a photo of the bottles up close. I love the bright tropical colors. Scent wise, both smell light, fruity and delicious though I have to say, Inseparable (pink bottle) is my favorite so far.

Afterwards we hit up Sephora were I got my favorite Sephora lipgloss in “She Sparkles” as well as the Urban Decay “Quinceanera” makeup bag I’ve been just DYING for. The bag was originally only offered online, so when I spotted this glittering purple display I squealed so loud I scared my guy friends half to death. But how can I not be excited – look how sparkly it is!!!

Between the pretty new things I got and my hilarious friends providing non-stop comedy relief, I actually am feeling a bit better. It’s amazing what shopping and good friends can do to change a girls mood!
