VMAs 2011 Fashion…Yawn.

Let’s see if I can get through this without falling asleep, cuz this year the outfits on the black carpet were boooooring. Save a few shining stars *cough cough* Demi Lavato, everything else was just strange and disappointing. I mean seriously, did anyone even try this year? Were all the stylists in Hollywood on vacation somewhere? And what the hell was on Katy Perry’s head?

Ok, so life’s most meaningful questions aside, I know you’re all expecting a best dressed list so I’ll give you one – a very short one. Then I’ll give you my worst dressed list cuz that one will be a whole lot more fun.

Best Dressed:

Female- Demi Lovato
This one wasn’t even a question, no one else even came close to looking as stunning as this girl. Her bejeweled gunmetal mini-dress was just gorgeous and hugged her new curvacious figure perfectly. The shoes were to die for and the long, flowing hair was just lovely. And the makeup. Don’t even get me started on the makeup. The glowing skin, the smokey silver eye, the lips -I die! Joe Jonas you screwed up big time!

Male- Lady Gaga as Joe Calderone
Ya, ya so you’re all gonna say I’m crazy for this one but whatever. Gaga looks hot as a dude. I’m not planning on switching teams or anything, I’m just saying if Gaga had a single older brother who looked like this I’d be all over it like cast of the Jersey Shore on a bottle of Valtrex.

Speaking of venereal diseases…

Worst dressed:

Female- The “girls” of Jersey Shore
I know we all expected them to look trashy but come on already. These chicks look like Syphilis wrapped in sequins, spray tanner and cheap lamé. And while they all look gross in their own right, I have to say Deana looks particularly terrifying in her Skittles dress. I would strongly advise anyone who tasted that rainbow to head to the nearest free clinic for a blood test and some antibiotics STAT.

Male (and I use the term loosely)- Justin Bieber
Ok seriously, why the hell did Biebs show up to this thing dressed like Harry Potter? This is an awards show dude, not Hogwart. And what’s with this pensive look? He won an award for a song called Smile for cryin’ out loud. And don’t even get me started on the snake. I mean sure it was shocking…when Britney Spears did it 10 years ago with an actual snake and not some pocket size GloWorm.

Lord, I’ve had just about enough of this for one night. You guys let me know your favorites and least favorites below- I need a drink before my head explodes.

The Sephora Catalog = Porn for Girly Girls.

This came in the mail today and the second I saw it I dropped everything and sat in the entryway of my apartment looking through it just like my creepy neighbor does when he gets his Victoria’s Secret catalog. I don’t know what it is, but something about new makeup products and trends makes me giddy. Maybe not as giddy as my creepy neighbor looking at Miranda Karr in her undies – but still, pretty darn excited!

Fall has always been my favorite season, so it’s no wonder that Fall trends are always the most exciting for me. This year, autumn means bold colored eyeliner, full lashes and the return of the deep burgundy lips that graced the pages of fashion magazines in the mid 90s.

Yup, they even have a centerfold. A mascara centerfold complete with perfume samples.

This little blurb gave me mixed feelings though. I think it’s a great idea to have a scan code so people can shop and find out more from their phones. But making it available only to iPhone users leaves out the millions of Sephora customers who are also Android users such as myself. Sure, they have a mobile app we can use too but it’s not nearly as cool. Sephora, I love you but I’m still waiting on my Droid app!

Oh and by the way, look closely at the mascara centerfold, there’s a hint as to what my next review will be ;)

DIY: Glam Up a Plain T-shirt!

The other day I got a few t-shirts at Target and came up with this cheap and easy way to glam them up and make them a little more Jackie-like. And by Jackie-like I mean blinged out. Cuz really, what’s the point in even getting dressed if there’s no bling involved?

To create this look you will need:

1. Any fitted or semi-fitted t-shirt of your choice
2. Scissors
3. Two sparkly hairclips of your choice (they must be clips, as in they must actually close. Pins won’t work for this)

Step 1: Make a small cut down the the center of the back of the shirt, starting at the collar.
Step 2: Quickly and carefully rip the shirt starting at the incision. Keep in mind the more you rip, the lower the neckline will be. And make sure you rip the fabric carefully so the back will look like a nice and neat deep V shape.
Step 3: Put on the shirt to ensure you are satisfied with the neckline. If not, repeat the ripping process until you’re happy.
Step 4: With the shirt on, gather the fabric at the base of the sleeve and clip it in place with one of the hair clips. Repeat on the other side.

And viola, all done! Now you can enjoy your super cute, custom blinged out tee!

My Guest Blog for Stila!!!

A few weeks ago I was asked to do a guest blog for Stila cosmetics and I’ve been dying to tell you guys since! I decided not to until it was posted just in case it didn’t pan out for whatever reason – but it DID happen and my guest blog is now up on the Stila website! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I can’t even begin to tell you guys how exciting this is for me. I’ve been a huge fan for about 7 years now – ever since a friend of mine took me to a fall trend show at Nordstrom and I got my makeup done at the Stila counter. And if someone had told me then that I would one day write piece for their blog, I never would have believed it. Yet somehow, here I am!

Check out the piece I wrote here- I’m very proud of it, so I hope you all love it as much as I do. And thank you all for your continued support. If it weren’t for my loyal readers, subscribers and viewers none of these amazing things would be happening to me. I’m truly blessed to have you all ♡

Mini Ulta Haul♡

I had to stop by Ulta the other day to pick up some props for my first commercial shoot (for my day job) and decided to grab a few things for myself while I was there. I mean come on, you can’t expect me to go into an Ulta and not get SOMETHING for myself. That would be just…un-Jackie like! I didn’t get a whole lot since I was there on a more important mission, but the few things I did get were goooood.

The first thing I grabbed was Benefit’s new They’re Real mascara. I’ve been dying to try this since I saw them talk about it on the Home Shopping Network a few months ago so I more than gladly handed over my $22 to get my hands on it. I’ll be taping a review on it sometime this week, but I absolutely love it so far. I also picked up the Too Faced Primed and Poreless face primer with the bronzed tint since I’ve been looking to try a new primer anyway and love the idea of a primer/bronzer in one. So far I like it, but not as much as the CoverFX primer I’ve been using. I’ll probably review this one in a few weeks since I generally like to use skin products for a while before I recommend them.

Being the fragrance fanatic I am, I decided to check out Ulta’s fragrances and fell in love with the Vanilla Sugar scent. It’s the perfect size for my purse, it was only $7 AND it makes me smell like a Starbucks vanilla cupcake. WIN. The last thing I grabbed on my way out was these cute little hairclips. Obviously they’re too small to use in my hair, so you’ll have to stay tuned for my next video to see what they’re for ;)
