Wednesday Night Sephora Haul!
Those of you who have been following my blog for a while may remember the good old days when I posted a Sephora Haul every Wednesday because I still lived at home and could afford to do so. Unfortunately being an adult and paying things like rent and bills have interfered with my weekly shopping, but since my birthday just passed I got a bunch of gift-cards to my favorite place on earth!
I ordered this online just a few days ago, so I was really surprised to find this box waiting for me when I got to work. And just in time for Wednesday haul post!
The second I opened all the Sephora gift-cards my friends got me, I knew exactly what I was gonna get: the Too Faced Return of Sexy Palette. Once that was safely in my cart where it belonged, I had some money left over so I picked up a few nail glitters since I know I’ll use them as well as a Sephora Nano Liner in Brilliant Berries because it’s one of my favorite lipliners for summer.
These are the Sephora Nail Glitters by OPI. They were on clearance for only $3 each so I got three colors: Pink, Pewter and Gold. The hues are all gorgeous, except the gold color is more of a copper. I’m not too disappointed though since it’s gonna make for a gorgeous Fall color.
I’m not gonna talk about this palette too much in this post since I plan on doing a review this weekend, but I will say it was love at first site. The colors are goooooorgeous, shimmery and richly pigmented. The palette also came with a waterproof eyeliner and a sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance – both of which I’ve been dying to try so I’m pretty excited.
Now that I’ve shown off my goodies, off I go to play with my new makeup until I doze off into dreamland. Be on the lookout for a full review/tutorial on the palette though, I’m filming it on Saturday so expect to see it posted here by Sunday!
Glitter Sneakers – DIY
I found a gorgeous pair of blinged out Rock and Candy sneaker wedges on Hautelook a few weeks ago and was bummed out to find they had sold out of my size by the time I logged on. They did had a similar, non-blinged out version however, so I decided to pick them up and bling them out myself.
These are the ZIGIny Lulu Jungle sneaker wedges in Crocodile. I picked these because I love the crocodile print as well as the neutral colors, tho truth be told I really hated the orange on the wedge. Since I love gold glitter, I decided to cover up the road-sign orange color with gold glitter, and this is what I got!
I coated all the orange parts in gold and glitter, then painted some of the crocodile print gold to tie it all together. I love these even more then the original blinged out shoes I wanted!
It took me a while to figure out how to cover up all the orange and get the glitter to stay. I own many pairs of glittery shoes so I know they’re notorious for glitter fallout. I personally don’t mind having glitter all over my floor but a lot of my friends feel differently, so I had to find a way to get the glitter to stick.
The answer was simple, and best of all I already had everything I needed in my beauty cabinet. I know it sounds strange, but the nail polish worked perfectly and the glitter hasn’t moved!
How I did it:
1. I laid down two coats of a solid gold polish (I used Ulta Salon Formula Nail Lacquer in High Roller) letting the polish dry for a day or so between coats to avoid streaking when I put the glitter polish over it.
2. I followed with two coats of gold glitter polish (I used Sally Hansen Gem Crush Nail Color in Big Money) again letting the polish dry for a day between coats. I finished with Ulta Salon Nail Top Coat to seal the glitter polish and smooth it out.
3. I then took an eyeliner brush and lightly traced over the crocodile pattern with High Roller. I was careful to use a light hand as I didn’t wanna completely cover up the pattern.
And viola! My wedge sneakers are now glittery, gorgeous and get tons of compliments!
Wanna Know What’s in My Makeup Bag?
I did this tag several years ago and have been asked to do an update about a bazillion times since, so here it is! I’m sure it comes at no surprise that I carry a sparkly makeup bag around with me every day, and it’s probably even less surprising that I keep a whole arsenal with me. You just never know when you’re gonna be invited to a fabulous rooftop party at the last minute and have to glam-up after work. And by fabulous rooftop party, I mean date night with the bf at Red Lobster. Fabulous…not so much. Until I get there, of course!

Ultra Fabulous Birthday Haul!
Last week I celebrated the anniversary of my 29th birthday (HA!) and not only had an amazing time, but collected some pretty amazing birthday swag while I was at it.
It’s kinda funny because for months I’ve been saying I wanted to keep things low-key this year and just enjoy some relaxing time with family and friends. And it actually did start out that way, with a lovely family dinner on my real birthday. It was so chill; just dinner, champagne and cake with a few close family members. So naturally I assumed I would have much of the same a few nights later with my closest friends. WRONG.
I won’t go into detail, but let’s just say I ended up drinking myself into a stupor, drinking soda directly from a fountain and passing out on a bench downtown. So much for a chill birthday, huh? In any case, I still won the super fab lottery, so check out the vid below to see how my family and friends spoiled me =)
