Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer

Good lord that’s a long name. Just typing that into the title wore me out.

Whew, OK. Now that I’ve had a break, let’s get into the good stuff. This is one of Maybelline’s newest concealers- and it came not a moment too soon cuz let’s face it, they needed to redeem themselves after discontinuing my beloved Dream Mousse Concealer. This formula is a part of their Instant Age Rewind line, which is meant to cover, fill and smooth fine lines.

Though I don’t have any serious wrinkles thanks to my nightly skincare routine and water drinking regimen, I do still have a few little lines here and there I’d like to cover. Mainly just a few under my eyes and of course, the crows feet I have coming in despite my best efforts to prevent them. And since these pesky little lines started developing I’ve found that some concealers tend to settle into them as the day goes on, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that didn’t happen with this.

The first thing I noticed when I first opened the package was the applicator looks more like a bingo marker, or maybe even the spiky hairstyle seen on douchbags, degenerates and Jersey Shore enthusiasts across America. Strange looks aside though, this thing is kind of ingenious. To dispense the product, you turn the dial at the base of the applicator until the amount of product you want comes out. It offers the perfect amount of control, so you don’t end up dispensing too much product, then wasting it if you can’t get it back into the container.

The best part, however, is it makes for a very gentle application that’s easier on the skin than dragging a stick concealer across the delicate under-eye area. With this spongy applicator you can dab the product under the eyes, leaving the skin undisturbed so as not to cause any future wrinkles.

Though you could sweep this across your skin like normal concealers, something about the light formula makes it look streaky unless you dab it. If you look at the photo below, you can see how the concealer on the right looks spotty while the one on the left looks even. Coverage wise, this is surprisingly good for something so light. It pretty much covered up my dark circles entirely and has pretty decent staying power as well.

My only issue is the color choices are very limited. I got the darkest shade (Honey 140) and it’s barely dark enough for my olive/tan complexion. If I get any darker, which will happen over the summer I won’t be able to use it again until the fall.

I like this concealer a lot, but I would like it even more if they would expand the color selection so I could have decent fine line coverage and still get a tan.

Final Verdict: Love it
