Wet N’ Wild by Fergie Nail Color – No Place Like Home
I picked this color up as part of my mini-Walgreen’s haul the other night and finally got around to trying it this evening since I felt like making my nails look a little more festive. I have to say outright however, I’m really disappointed.
The color looks so shiny in the bottle I assumed it would look just as glossy on my nails, which it doesn’t. The color itself is nice, but the finish is really grainy and dull. I first applied two coats thinking that would be enough, but it looked so blah I put a few coats of clear polish over which didn’t help much. As you can see from the photo, my nails don’t look nearly as shiny as the color in the bottle does.
I understand it’s Wet N’ Wild and I only paid $3.99 for it, but considering their products have been so much better lately I’m really surprised. When I picked up the nail polish I thought about getting a few other colors, but now I’m glad I decided to try this one first before investing in more as it would have been a huge waste of much needed holiday cash. I hate this color so much I plan on taking it off the second I’m done with this post and just sticking with the gel polish I had on before.
Sorry Fergie, but this one is going in the beauty junk drawer.
Final Verdict: HATED IT!
Price: $3.99

Wet n’ Wild Eyeshadow Palettes – I Don’t Hate It!
I finally bought a few of the new Wet n’ Wild eyeshadow palettes and I have to say, the uber affordable line has really stepped up their game. I was resistant to trying these despite the good reviews because the name reminds me of high school when I would walk around with their $.99 eyeliner running down my face. But since then the company has given their brand a complete over haul. To the point where the look and quality of the products is almost – dare I say it – good! This is great news for young girls everywhere looking for highly pigmented shadows for a price they can afford on what they make at their after school job.

The Good: The eyeshadow trios are a fantastic deal. For $2.99 you get everything you need to create an entire eye look – a lid, crease and highlight color – in one palette. And the quality is surprisingly good. The colors are vibrant and easy to blend, especially if you use a base such as the Nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil first. Check out the stunning look my girl (and Wet n Wild ambassador) BrilliantBrnette81 did on YouTube for an example of what these shadows can really do once you’ve got the technique down! The palettes are also super compact so they will easily fit in your clutch or makeup bag for touch-ups on the go. And because so many stores carry the Wet n Wild line, you can find these pretty much anywhere.
The Bad: While the packaging is compact, it is a tad flimsy. Which is to be expected given the affordable price, but the shadows break easily as a result (see exhibit A below) and are a bitch to clean up once they do.

My suggestion is storing the palettes together with a rubber band so they don’t bounce around in your makeup drawer or bag as much. And for the love of God, don’t EVER drop them! At the very least the price makes them easy to replace, but no one wants to waste perfectly good eyeshadow. That would just be a crime against beauty!
Final Verdict - Love it!
Price: $2.99
Get it: Most drugstores nationwide. For a complete list, check out the Wet n Wild website.

By Request – The ‘Chola’ Look Preview
Over the past year a bunch of “Chola Look” tutorials have hit YouTube, and one of my lovely readers asked me to do one, since the other ones aren’t “authentic.” Now by authentic, I mean they’re more Hollywood Chola (a la Gwen Stefanie and Fergie) rather than what an actual chola would wear.
So I basically did a tutorial based on how I wore my make-up in high school, back when I THOUGHT I was a chola. I say thought becuase I doubt real hardcore cholas washed their make-up off before their parents came to pick them up from private school. Lulz.
I did the tutorial tonight, so here are a few stills until I can figure out how to work this damn video editing equipment. Why am I doing that, you ask? Cuz I finally got a real video camera…woo hoo!
I’ll include a list of the products I used below the photos so those of you who wanna try it out can pick these items up in the meantime.
