Music Monday Is Back With a Vengance!
I know I’ve been slacking on Music Monday lately, but damn it I miss it so I’m bringing it back! I know I’ve posted this song before, but it really sums up how I’m feeling these days thanks to the constant parade of douchebags who keep entering and exiting my life. Ok, enough bitterness for one day, now lets all just sit back and enjoy this lovely warm day with a little Mary J. Blige!
I saw The Sign…and Also The Monday Music Flashback.
I’ve been on an Ace of Base kick since I heard the Alejandro/Don’t Turn Around mash-up last week. I know this couldn’t possibly be any more commercial, but damn it’s catchy! Not to mention it reminds me of my 8th grade year, when me and my BFFs would cut P.E to wander around the school happily singing this song and gossiping about who was skanking it up with who. Aaaaaah childhood memories!
Music Monday…er, Tuesday!
Ya, I know it’s Tuesday. But it was a long, exhausting weekend, so here I am updating this way too early after 3 days of fun, BBQs, booze and Sex and The City 2. Today’s flashback comes courtesy of my little cousin Catherine, who posted this to her Facebook page late last night.
This song brings back all kinds of memories from my teenage years. The summer this was released, I was just 18, working the summer away at Waterworld, our local waterslides park. I remember this would play loudly over the loudspeakers every evening at closing time, as we all hurriedly did our closing duties while simultaneously planning where the after work party was at. It was hands down the best summer of my life, so I dedicate this to all the friends I spent those 3 months with. Party on, wherever you guys may be!!!
I Love…Flashback Music Monday!!!
Everybody makes fun of me for still loving this song, which I find hilarious cuz I know deep down they love it too! It’s just so catchy, how can ya not love it? I had kinda forgotten about it actually, until a certain someone put a huge smile on my face today and made me think about it. And wouldn’t ya know it, I’m still smiling =)
It’s Music Monday…God Help Us All!
I was sitting in my cube this morning typing away and minding my own business when two of my co-workers barged in and started doing what can only be described as the worst dancing ever, to this song. I won’t go into detail about what I saw – I love you all way too much for that – but suffice it to say there was grinding, gyrating and pelvic thrusting like I have never seen before. As my friend Mollena put it, I think I just died inside. You all enjoy your trip down memory lane, while I go find some eye bleach…
Flashback Music Monday, For My Mama!
My mom is leaving for South America tomorrow, and in her honor I will dedicate Flashback Music Monday to her, cuz I’m gonna miss her so much! She loves this song, as do I. Not because I’m tryna “hear it” for any of the fools I be messin’ with (BOO!), but because it reminds me of her. So, let’s here it for…my mom!
Flashback Music Monday…Man I’m So Tired!
I know it’s a little late – OK a lot late – but I’ve been running in circles all day. And so, there is really only one song that can describe my current mood. I could sit here and blabber on about how hard I work, but instead I’ll let Donna Summer break it down for ya’ll so I can go to bed!
Flashback Music Monday – Cuz I Love Me Some Anita Baker!
Oh ya, I went there. I had to bust out with the Anita Baker this week because, well, the woman is simply amazing. The little pop/R&B singers out these days could stand to learn a thing or two from this lady. THIS is what sangin’ is all about! I miss the days when all it took was a great love song and an amazing voice to have a hit record. Cuz with a song like this and a voice like hers, who needs all the autotune and backup dancers?
Music Monday Is Back With…Christopher Cross? Huh?
Ok, ok before you guys all start making fun of me for posting this as my flashback track of the week, allow me to explain. This has been stuck in my head since lunchtime, when my co-workers and I started talking about easy listening songs, and how we seem to know every word of these songs we allegedly hate.
As soon as Christopher Cross was mentioned, we all launched into stories about riding in the car with our parents while being forced to listen to this ungodly music. I know this song in particular puts me right back in my parents yellow Nissan Sentra, fighting with my brother as my parents told us to shut the hell up. Ah, priceless family memories!
It’s Just Another Manic Monday…BOOOOO!
Sorry guys, I know I’m like, 11 years late in posting the old school track of the week, but today has been absolutely insane at work. It’s been non-stop deadlines and meetings all day, so there really only is one song song that fits my mood. Yup. I wish it were Sunday too. At least I’m hangin’ with the boy tonight though, yay!
