Holiday Red Lips with Gold Flecks ♥
In the second installment of my holiday inspired series, I decided to do a sultry red lip with delicate gold flecks. I figure if there’s any time to wear red lips, it’s the holidays – plus the gold gives just the right amount of festive flare. Not to be confused with pieces of flare, or course. Although, when you consider how much bling I wear on a daily basis, I’m pretty much a giant, walking piece of flare.
In any case, check out the tutorial below to get these luscious holiday lips, then read on after the jump for a list of the products I used as well as some less expensive duplicates =)
Products Used:
Revlon Photoready Concealer (as a base)
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Lipliner – Gash (Revlon Colorstay Lipliner in Red is a good, less expensive dupe for this one)
NYX Lipliner – Currant (Outline)
MAC Lipstick – Russian Red (L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Ravishing Red is also a great color and it costs half as much)
Philosophy Lipgloss - Candy Cane (any clear gloss will due, this just happens to be what I had on hand)
LORAC 3D Liquid Lustre (you can pretty much use any gold pigment, eye shadow or glitter as long as it’s cosmetic grade)
Naked Lips Tutorial Feat. Urban Decay!
In keeping with my recent Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Color obsession, I decided to do a lip tutorial using the Naked color since that’s the one I just can’t seem to put down. I love neutral, fleshy-toned lips but hate washed out, nude tones so this hue is perfect. Plus it’s got just the right amount of gloss to make lips look luscious and full.
Since the goal of this look is simplicity, I went easy on the lipliner, opting for a soft color (Cameo by Prestige Cosmetics) that blends in with the natural color of my lips. As for gloss, I used just a dab of Sugarbomb by Benefit to highlight the center of my bottom lip. You can add a sparkly gloss if you want a little more shine, but I decided to keep the shimmer factor down on this one.
As for the rest of the look, I did a little bronzer on the cheeks for color and a light brown smokey eye using the Too Faced Natural at Night Palette. Then I topped it all off with a few coats of Benefit They’re Real mascara and viola – all done!

New Obsession- Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color
I planned on posting this last night, but between the Giants game and the last presidential debate I was just to excited to sit in front of my laptop and type up a blog. I’m sure you all understand, right? Ok, good =)
Now let’s get down to business, and oh what bright, sparkly, sexy business it is. I spotted this gorgeous lip color at Ulta last night when I went to pick up a 24/7 eyeliner and it was just too pretty to pass up. I loved pretty much every color in the display, but settled on just getting Adrenaline (a deep, sparkling fuchsia) to start with. And I do mean start with, since this lipstick is so sexeh I most definitely plan on buying more shades.
I love that this product comes in pencil form as it makes application very precise, which is especially important considering how highly pigmented the formula is.
The above picture further proves what I just said, these colors are unbelievably rich and pigmented. They are also not only high-gloss, but super long wearing as well which is really hard to accomplish in one product. The color also feels super amazing on my lips and since it’s a lipstick rather than a gloss it offers lots of shine with no stickiness. Don’t even get me started on how sexy it looks on – all I can say is oooooooohmg. (Note: I’ll post a pic of the color on my lips tomorrow. I’m way to comfy blogging and watching Parenthood in bed to get up and have photoshoot time at the moment lol)
I may just post the lip shots this weekend, as I’ll be picking up at least two more shades (Naked and Big Bang) before then. Either way, I’m pretty sure I’ve found my newest obsession.
Fall Tutorial – Blackberry Lips
I’ve been counting down the days until my first fall tutorial for months and here it is! I normally don’t start doing these until mid-September, but when style guru Bobbie Thomas talked about blackberry lips taking the runways by storm at NYC Fashion Week, I knew I had to do a tutorial ASAP. Luxury brands like MAC and Chanel are set to launch blackberry lipstick shades during Fashion Night Out, but since that won’t happen for another week and I’m impatient, I decided to mix my own blackberry lip color. And I kinda love it a little bit!
Since the lips are the focal point of this look, I went easy on the eyes and cheeks to keep the look more chic and less “goth hooker,” as one of my YouTube subscribers described it.
The one thing you have to remember to do with this look is blot, blot, blot. While the blackberry tone looks super sexy on the lips, it looks not-so-sexy on the teeth. I learned this the hard way when I had to re-film the intro to my tutorial after realizing I had spent three minutes talking about how fierce my look was, all the while having dark lipgloss all over my pearly whites.
To get this look, check out the list of products I used below. I also have a video for the eye look I’m wearing, so feel free to click here if you’re interested.

But after the eleventy billionth request, I decided to just got ahead and make a video for the whole look anyway. And now I’m glad I did, cuz I kinda love it!
I didn’t go over my eyebrows in the video, but in case you’re wondering I went over them using an angled brush and Benefit Brow Zings in Dark.
