Holiday Red Lips with Gold Flecks ♥
In the second installment of my holiday inspired series, I decided to do a sultry red lip with delicate gold flecks. I figure if there’s any time to wear red lips, it’s the holidays – plus the gold gives just the right amount of festive flare. Not to be confused with pieces of flare, or course. Although, when you consider how much bling I wear on a daily basis, I’m pretty much a giant, walking piece of flare.
In any case, check out the tutorial below to get these luscious holiday lips, then read on after the jump for a list of the products I used as well as some less expensive duplicates =)
Products Used:
Revlon Photoready Concealer (as a base)
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Lipliner – Gash (Revlon Colorstay Lipliner in Red is a good, less expensive dupe for this one)
NYX Lipliner – Currant (Outline)
MAC Lipstick – Russian Red (L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Ravishing Red is also a great color and it costs half as much)
Philosophy Lipgloss - Candy Cane (any clear gloss will due, this just happens to be what I had on hand)
LORAC 3D Liquid Lustre (you can pretty much use any gold pigment, eye shadow or glitter as long as it’s cosmetic grade)

Hayden Panettiere – Get the Look!
Red lipstick – ur doin’ it right!
Hats off to Hayden’s make-up artist, because this girl looks amazing every time I see her – especially as seen here at recent red carpet event. As soon as I saw this look I knew I had to replicate it, and after a lot of mixing, matching and fail I finally got it right:
Face: Start with a great moisturizer, then apply a creamy foundation like Make-up Forever HD. To get the dewy look, mix in a drop or two of gold based highlighter – my personal fave is Benefit Moon Beam. Finish with a light dusting of pressed or loose powder, but don‘t over do it or you’ll end up with the cakey, I put my make-up on with a putty knife look. Which is not hot.
Eyes: Apply Urban Decay Primer Potion to the entire lid area, followed by an off white shadow like Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in French Vanilla. Then, sweep Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Midnight Cowgirl across your lid, dipping the eyeshadow brush in a little water first to achieve the intense gold color Hayden is sporting. For the crease, you can use pretty much any matte black eyeshadow you like, but apply it lightly so as not to overpower the gold. Using a smudge brush – like Sephora Brand #11 – blend a touch of the black shadow under the eye as well. Next, apply a black, liquid liner to the upper lid, and rim the lower water line with a long wearing black eye pencil. Finish with an exquisite set of false lashes, like Make-up Forever lashes in dense black or three coats of an ultra rich mascara like Cargo Texas Lash.
Cheeks: Use a shimmery beige color like Nars blush in Zen.
Lips: Line lips with Urban Decay 24/7 lipliner in Ozone. It’s clear, so it’ll keep your lipstick in place without changing it’s color. Then sweep on a healthy application of MAC lipstick in Russian Red.
And there ya have it kids! Learn it, know it, live it!
Kelly Clarkson Red Lipstick FTW
I sit here on this cold, starry night, typing away in my favorite chair as I do every night. But this is no ordinary night people. Because on this night, I sport the Kelly Clarkson ruby red lips I so envied when I saw her album cover for the My Life Would Suck Without You single.
This was no easy feat however. I scoured the interwebs nearly everyday, hoping to find info on what make-up she was wearing to no avail. Since there was no way to know for sure how this stunning look was achieved, I decided to go old school and just mix and match a bunch of products until I got it right. Finally, last night after an impromptu trip to Sephora, I stumbled upon just the right color combo! And man was I excited!
So- to make this look happen girls, you will need three things: lip liner, lipstick and lip gloss. The liner, of course, is Maybelline Moisture Extreme and the color is Merlot, which you’re just gonna line your lips with, then fill them in. Then sweep on a healthy application of Urban Decay lipstick in Gash – a creamy, blood red hue that‘s super moisturizing. Then, using a lip brush, dab on some Kat Von D Lightening Lipgloss in Stormy. Apply the super sparkly, dark red gloss on the center of the bottom lip, as that will reflect light, making your lips appear fuller. It also adds that sheen that makes Kelly’s lips look so sexy.
And viola! The Kelly Clarkson lips are yours! Pair this ruby red pout with a light smoky eye, and you’re ready to go out and own the night! Or the board room. Or in my case, the cubicle.
