Sephora by OPI Nail Glitter

I got these nail glitters on sale at Sephora.com a few weeks ago and now I’m so glad I did! It’s no secret I’m a fan of sparkle nails, considering I only have like, a million blog posts about them in my archives, so naturally the next step was to start buying my own glitter. Like most places, my nail shop has a huge selection, so at first I thought this was a pointless expense. But it really did save a lot of time, plus it felt kinda nice to have all the nail techs staring at the pretty colors I got =)

I couldn’t decide between the Pink and Gunmetal colors so I took them both to the nail shop with me in hopes my tech could help me make up my mind. Normally, pink wins over all, but I just couldn’t get this multi-tone Gunmetal hue out of my mind.

As usual, my nail tech came up with an idea I love – using the gunmetal glitter, with the pink as accent colors on the ringfingers. We had originally planned to put 3D Hello Kitty on the ring fingers as well but she felt that would be too much, and looking at them now I think she was right.

As far as the quality of the glitter, I’m really impressed. They offer lots of different colors and consistencies. As you can tell from my nails, the pink glitter pieces are cut larger, while the Gunmetal glitter is more finely ground. You can use them alone over nail polish, but these look best mixed in with a teeny bit of clear acrylic. Either way, I love them and can’t wait to use the other colors I bought!

Final Verdict: LOVE IT (duh, lol)
Price: $3 each

Sparkly New Gel Nails – Black and Pink

I was in the mood to try something different when I went in to get a fill last night and came up with this. And I loooooooove it! I rarely do black polish on my fingers, but it provides such a great backdrop for silver glitter I don’t know why I never did this before.

At the behest of one of my best friends, I tried black polish, adding a coat of silver glitter on top to make it my own. I thought keeping my ring fingers hot pink would add a nice pop of color, which it did.

I just love how the glitter catches the light. Cuz you know I can’t just have plain black, come on now!

A big reason I went with the color scheme I did was cuz I felt it would showcase my fancy new purple ring. The black provides a nice, dark canvas while the hot pink pulls the brightness out of the swarovskis.

Here’s a close-up so you can see the detail in the colors. This was all done with gel nail polish – the brand is called Gelish. We started with two coats of color 01348 Black Shadow, with one coat of 01358 Water Field (silver glitter) on top. On the ring finger we used 01402 High Voltage as that was the most vibrant pink they had.

I love these so much I think I’m gonna keep them for a while =) And if you’re interested in getting your nails done at my go-to place, it’s called Star Nails. Ask for Kim (she’s my favorite tech) and tell her Jackie sent you!

Candy Pink Gel Nails = True Love ♡

My fabulous nail tech Kim talked me into trying out these new gel nails, and omg I am in loooove with the results. I’m a big fan of sparkly nails and this is probably the most sparkle I’ve ever had upon my fingertips.

This is what my nails look like against a light background. What I love about the color is it’s multi-dimensional, so it looks light against some colors and a little darker against others. This backdrop pulls out the iridescent tones so it almost looks like I have diamonds on my fingers.

Against this pretty black pillow the deeper pink glitter really comes out, making the look more intense. It almost reminds me of Barbie pink.

The process to create these pretty nails isn’t as hard as one would think either. All my tech did was fill my nails with pink acrylic, then apply a basecoat of gel before applying 3 coats of the colored gel. She then finished it off with a top coat and I was all done. The whole process actually took less time than my normal pink and white fills do, and it was only abut $5 more. Totally worth it for the extra sparkle if you ask me!

Sparkle Nails FTW!

I know you guys love my nail blogs, so I thought I’d share my latest adventure in nail fabulousness, as I am quite happy with the results.

One of my Sephora consultalnts referred me to this little nail spot by my house that does custom sparkle nails. And since that has Jackie written all over it, I had to check it out.

For those of you not familiar with sparkle nails, they’re done using the same technique as pink and white, only glittery powder is used on the tips as opposed to white. Most salons that offer this service have tons of colors, but this is the first one I’ve been to that lets you create your own. I went with a mixture of pink and silver glitter, and I just loooooove it! I also tried dark pink powder for the actual nail, and will definitely do that from now on, as it really brings out the color of the glitter. And the nail tech even mixed a little extra to keep for my next visit, so I will be back for sure.

If there’s no salon in your area that offers a custom sparkle mix, I suggest asking them to do it. In most cases, they’re happy to oblige.
