Greeeeen Day In The Bay!

Last night I was lucky enough to catch Green Day and AFI at The Shoreline Amphitheater here in the Bay. Hands down, it’s the best show I’ve ever been to! I’ve always loved Green Day, but after last nights performance they are officially one of my favorite bands of all time. To me, a true test of an artists talent is how they perform live, and these guys are true showmen. They sounded great, the set was awesome and they incorporated the crowd, inviting multiple members up at different points during the night to help them sing some of their classics.

Not to mention, they are hilarious! During a montage of several classic rock songs such as Highway to Hell, the guys even dressed up as everyone from fat Elvis to Santa Clause. To say the show was amazing is an understatement, so if you ever get the chance to see these guys live, dooooooo it! I’ll post a few pics of my friends and I enjoying the fun below. Ok kids, I’m off to bed. Again. Between the amazing show, tons of Blue Moon and lots of cracker throwing (don’t ask), I’m beat!

My Emmy Fashion Favorites!!!

While watching The Emmy’s this evening I came to several conclusions. 1- I’ll pretty much love a shiny gown, no matter what it looks like and 2- someone really needs to give Kerri Russel a sandwich. And now that I’ve brought you all up to speed on my life changing epiphanies, I now give you my picks for best dressed of the evening. *drumroll*

Jayne Lynch - The Glee! star looked stunning and surprisingly feminine in an eggplant colored, one shoulder gown. Everything from the dress to the soft hair and makeup was just perfect. Though I have to admit, she could have showed up in her red Nike track suit and still would have been one of my favorites. Because Sue Sylvester is my hero. I like her, will no longer be carrying photo ID. Because people should already know who I am.

Sofia Vergara- Aaaaaah Sofia. I love my fellow Colombiana because she always does us proud. Tonight she sparkled in a gorgeous canary yellow strapless gown and long flowing hair. And I love that she went bold with the accessories without going overboard.

Mariska Hargitay- This lady is stunning no matter what she wears, but her off white gown looked particularly amazing with her skin tone. And I love how the cut higlights her perfect figure. Simple. Elegant. Amazing.

Back To School Look / Watch Me Get Ready

I’ve been getting a lot of requests for a back to school look, as well as requests for a morning make up routine video so I decided to combine the two into one giant neutral smokey eye extravaganza! I really like this look for everyday because it pretty much goes with anything, and it’s super easy to put on at 7am. Which is good, considering the fact that at 7am I’m so groggy I have the hand/eye coordination of my neighbors blind, 3 legged cat.

Music Monday Is Back With a Vengance!

My Nails Match My Phone!

Once again, my brilliant nail tech at Star Nails came up with something I love! She comes up with such great ideas that most times I’ll just go in and give her a basic idea of what I want, then just let her go crazy. This time I wanted silver, hot pink and lots of sparkle – and that’s just what got! To create this look, she first applied a thin layer of silver glitter to the tip, then covered the top 3/4 with a mixture of hot pink shimmer and iridescent white powder. She finished off with some pink powder at the base and viola – I can now send text messages is perfectly color coordinated style!

Lollipop Bling Inspired Look #3 – Mine Again

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation Review

I got a sample of this foundation at the Nars counter a few weeks ago, and completely forgot about it until MakeupGeek raved about it in her latest video. Since she’s one of my most trusted gurus in the YouTube makeup community, I figured I would take her word for it and try out my sample this morning as I was getting ready. I liked it so much I headed straight to Nordstrom after work and shelled out the $42 for this magical makeup in a bottle.

Not only does it go on light, but it somehow manages to make skin look dewy and fresh, while providing a good amount of coverage. My skin looked younger, healthier and brighter. I’ve been searching for something like this for ages, since I’ve now hit the big 3-0 and need all the help I can get. I do have a few favorite foundations I use on a regular basis, but lately I’ve found that while they look great in the morning when I first put them on, by the end of the day my skin looks dry and run through. The Sheer Glow however still looked fresh and dewy when I left work at 6pm. It almost reminds me of an old discontinued favorite I used to get at Clinique that was also called Sheer Glow, though it didn’t offer as much coverage as this one. Not that I needed much in those days, back when I was a young, fresh faced 23-year-old with no idea what crows feet were.

Ok, now that my old moment has passed, I highly advise you to splurge on this foundation, as it is so worth it. To get the most out of your $42, try applying it with a foundation brush. That way you’ll get even coverage with less product.
