Drugstore Beauty Raid!
I ventured into Rite Aide the other day for some Christmas candy since it seems to attract cute boys to my desk at work, and naturally ended up making a detour toward the beauty aisle. Because lets face it, if there are beauty products within a 50 mile radius of my geographical location, I will sense them. I will find them. And I will make them mine.
So I scored a few really good new products. Would you like to know what they are? Very well then, here ya go:
CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara:This is fabulous stuff. It lengthens and thickens like, insane amounts. And I have yet to get even one clump, thanks to this crazy looking little brush:
I salute you, weird looking brush thingy! You made my lashes look awesome, and for this I am thankful.
Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Daily Regeneration Moisture Lotion:
I have combination skin, and this moisturizer is rich enough to hydrate the dry areas of my face without making the rest of it break out. It also has SPF 15, which is something you should always look for in a moisturizer, especially if you’re using it as a base under your make-up, which is what did with this. The scent is nice too, light, unlike the Garnier hair care line, which I find a little overpowering for my taste. It also left my skin smooth as a baby’s butt.
L’Oreal Skin Genesis Micro Smoothing Wet Cleansing Towelettes:I.FREAKING.LOVE.THESE.THINGS. Seriously, I’m hooked. I’ll admit, the main reason I bought them was because they come in a shiny pink package. Not the best way to choose a skincare product, but in this case my instinct was right on the money. They’re refreshing, remove make-up like a dream and leave my face feeling fresh as a daisy. And I really like that fact that I can wash my face whilst watching the 11 o’clock news in my favorite chair.
Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lip Liner in Merlot:This was probably my favorite discovery of the day because I’ve been looking for a lip liner to match my MAC Viva Glam lipstick, and this is it. It goes on smooth, stays put and blends really well so I can avoid the unfortunate lip liner indiscretions of my high school homegirl days. Oh god, I’m having a bad make-up flashback. *Sits in corner, cries*
Damn You Jemma Kid Eyeliner…
Damn you straight to hell! *shakes fist*
There I was, minding my own business perusing the aisles at Target, when your siren song called to me. There you were, beautifully displayed in a way that made me feel like I was at the beauty counter at Nordstrom. I did my best to walk away, after all, what kinda jackass spends $14 on an eyeliner at Target of all places, but I am weak and could not resist your charm. And, so, I became that jackass.
At first things looked promising- JK by Jemma Kid I-Conic eyes pencil liner. When I applied you to my sleepy, early morning eyes, you swept across my lids with a deep, rich black color that made me look wide awake. And the cap that doubles as a sharpener? Pure genius.
I looked fabulous as I sailed out the door at 8:30am, but if only I had known you would betray me so quickly. Upon arrival to the office, I was greeted at my cubicle by one of the many sexy boys I work with. There truly is no better way to start the day, than with a flirty exchange with a cute co-worker. After he left me to my work, I whipped out my compact to see how you were doing, expecting that a mere 45 minutes after application, you would look freshly applied. But the nightmare staring back at me told a much different story.
For in less than an hour, you had run all over the place, making me look like an escaped mental patient from the Shady Side asylum for the criminally insane and cosmetically challenged. And so, in one fell swoop, I managed to waste $14 of my hard earned money, AND I looked like even more of a jackass in front of the cute boy – a feat I am perfectly capable of without the help of crappy eyeliner, thank you.
And so, JK by Jemma Kid I-Conic eyes pencil liner, you FAIL! I may even go so far as to say you EPIC FAIL. Thanks for the fail, and please enjoy the car ride back to Target, where I will exchange you for something a little less dangerous, like a sharp object or an Ogilvie Home Perm kit.
